VENEZUELIAN ORIMULSION
Ιn VENEZUELA they have a very heavy producst …is not CRUDEOIL is the notorious UNIQUE product ORIMULSION is soil but contains big quantity of carbon …in order to be pumpable/ transferable they admix with water 80 % soil + 20 % fresh water. minor heating is need with specific equipment ( heat exchangers on each ship ) how ever double hull vsls they don’t have problem to deliver the productat almost loaded temp abt 100 – 110 F . Product is used all over the world in big generators plans , the price is very low abt 50 % less than oil …however there are other environmental problems as contains high sulphur and upon used remains a lot of ashes ….
In the past Venezuelians use to handle the export of the product with small tankers fm Orinoco up to island BONAIRE where they
had a big storage tankers ( 3000.000 sdwt ) the last over 20 years the are using pipeline fm Orinoco river up to PUERTO LA CRUZ
where they have a monobuoy and can accommodate any size of tanker…..
Is very heavy product sp. gr. 1.045 – 1.060 subject to water ratio upon admix with water , no danger with no gases , i have personal experience as in my previous company we have handled more than 20 times said cargo and discharge CANADA , JAPAN , PORTUGAL , FRANCE , ITALY , ISRAEL and i don’t remember other countries …..the reservoir of ORINOCO river is with unlimited capacity ……over 10 billion of tons ( may be more , i don’t remember ).
On the CONTRARY the original Venezuelian crude oil is very good quality ( except PACHACERO and TIA HUANA crude oils ,also heavy products transferable only with heating over 150 F ) Venezuilan crude oils have good price and are exported mainly to USA , CANADA and other countries..
